Paid $100 for a headliner, all sunroof parts to convert to power, black panel for power roof and switch and the guy gave me the maplight mirror. Salvage yards owned by rednecks FTW.

What ya gotta do is split the mirror open ... in half front to back, cut the wires that went through the original mirror arm thing, pop it out, and substitute it for the cabby arm. To get the wires out now, you'll need to drill a small hole in the mirror and solder some wires on to run out the top. Put some spade connectors on the wires you soldered on, and make a small Y harness to tap into the +/- for the overhead cabby light next to the check panel but will leave both functional.
This is what I did with mine.
Edit - Something you may or may not run into doing this is a problem with the mirror being very loose on the new ball from the cabby arm. I looked and the ball from my original mirror was smaller than the one that came with the maplight. Just by a tiny bit. Some people say there is a little spacer thing below the ball in most mirrors, but neither of mine had it. Either way, what I did was put a piece of cereal box cardboard below the ball then push it in, made it a little better. You can see it in the first picture actually. It was still loose for a while moving going over big bumps but has since tightened up okay.Last edited by Justin B; 06-24-2007, 11:52 PM.Comment
